Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Tom Valicenti got a bad case of the “curse of the Yampa Valley” after visiting Steamboat. His condition only worsened visit after visit and he was forced to ask his Wisconsin-based employer to move him west of the Mississippi. At the time, they could not get him to Denver, but they could get him to the Phoenix area. It was there that he would meet through work, his future bride and best friend, Marci, who was a transplant from the Quad Cities area. Tom wasted no time in bringing Marci to Steamboat and soon, she too had the “curse”. Knowing that there was no cure except to relocate, they moved to Steamboat in 1991 with their infant son, Zach. Tom followed in his father’s footsteps and soon headed to Denver to obtain his real estate license. As a youngster, Tom had also accompanied his grandfather on many construction sites, and he yearned to make his mark on Steamboat. Within a year, he was hands-on in construction which ultimately would lead to him building and remodeling some very incredible residences over 20+ years. Marci obtained her license in 2002, when both children were in school, and after many years as Tom’s real estate assistant. Her flair for interior design has been realized by their clients, as well as Tom’s projects and real estate staging.
As full-service brokers, Tom & Marci have the marketing proficiency & know-how to list a seller’s asset as well as the market knowledge to help buyers achieve their real estate investment. Their knowledge of handling both facets of the business has given them an edge on strong negotiating skills which they bring to every transaction. A significant distinction is Tom’s expertise as a general contractor and Marci’s design skills, which adds to the wealth of their connections & experience and has proven beneficial to both sellers and buyers. They feel privileged to have ownership in Colorado Group Realty – a locally owned real estate brokerage that is affiliated with Leading Real Estate Companies of the World – and the network that sells more properties globally than any other! Additionally, with this local connection, they take great pride with their company being the first Steamboat real estate company to form a non-profit, the Colorado Group Charitable Foundation, whereby with every transaction they make a donation and the proceeds are distributed to non-profit organizations throughout Routt County.
Tom and Marci enjoy being leaders in the real estate community and keeping abreast of real estate developments. They believe it is important to volunteer and give back to the place that they call home and have been active in various capacities for the school district, Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs, CGR Charitable Foundation, United Way, Steamboat Tennis Association and Old Town Hot Springs. They enjoy the variety of activities that Steamboat has developed over the years. Tom is an avid golfer and biker and enjoys tennis/pickleball and skiing in the winter months. Marci enjoys tennis and pickleball throughout the year and bike riding and golf in off-winter months.
The Valicenti’s value the real estate relationships that they make. Knowing that there are many brokers from which to choose, they believe in providing the best client service possible. Having realized their own goal of living and investing in Steamboat, it gives them great satisfaction to help someone else grasp the same dream. They welcome the opportunity to discuss and/or represent you with your real estate interests and are happy to provide references.
